Safety 101: 5 Tips for Solo Travel to Las Vegas

Getting your whole crew together to come party with you in Vegas can be a challenge! Everyone has a reason to miss out on this trip, whether it's budget, timing, childcare, etc. Sometimes, you have to just catch a flight and take a vacation by yourself! This can be the best time you've ever had, but you have more safety concerns when you're solo than when you're with a crew. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind on your next solo outing in Las Vegas.

Stay In Public Areas

Las Vegas is among the most popular tourist destinations in America. We do everything we can to make sure your stay is safe, and you feel secure. You can't get into the hotel elevators at most resorts unless you have a room key, Las Vegas Blvd (the Strip) and the Fremont Street Experience are lined with on-duty police officers, and each hotel has their own trained security staff ready to aid any situation (even labor!). Some of our best venues are off the strip. For this, I recommend taking an Uber/Lyft so you don't have to worry about parking far away from the venue in an area you are unfamiliar with.

Be Aware Of Your Surroundings

A lot of us feel awkward when we are alone, so we keep our noses buried in our phones. Trust me, what's going on in Vegas is much more fun than scrolling through your phone. Pop it in your bag and enjoy the city! You don't want to give a pickpocket any extra reason to look to you as their next score.

Carry the Right Bag for the Occasion

If you're going to the pool, go ahead and bring your pool bag. If you're going to the club, or sightseeing leave the big, bulky, over the shoulder or luxury bags at home/in your room for the fancy dinner and choose a crossbody/waist bag instead and carry just the essentials. It's so much easier to keep track of and harder to "lose" your things when they are in a smaller bag that is much harder to get into.

Watch Your Drink

This one goes out to men and women. People DO throw drugs in drinks and being a solo traveler that means you don't have a group of people looking out for your drink like back home. I don't walk around with cocktails in the club anymore. I'll have a few drinks before I get there and then take a shot as I feel like I want one or have a beer in the bottle because those are much harder to get something into without you noticing. But, if you're a casual cocktail drinker while you are out that's just not an option. There is now an easy to carry drug detector called the SipChip that anyone can use to make sure their drink is safe. I'm keeping some of these in stock so send me an email if you are in Las Vegas and need a few.

Join A Group

Last but not least, join a group! Just because you came alone does NOT mean you have to stay alone your entire trip! I LOVE going on tours with groups. We have lots of downtown tours like one on a Segway that takes you out to check out all the original art all over the walls of Downtown Las Vegas. We also have things like Pink Jeep Tours that will take you out in nature to explore the desert or Red Rock. If you're looking for an outing, Meetup.com has lots of groups to join especially for women to join. Since it costs money to create a meetup group, I always trust these to be legitimate. And lastly, you can sign up for Surkus. This is a free, crowd casting service. Most events if not all of them will be FREE to attend. A lot of times, they will ask the group of attendees to meet up before the event to enter together and to stay together during the event. When I first started with this app, they were paying for members to attend events! So, whether there are events available in your city or the surrounding area you should still sign up to join the Surkus for access to the events here in Las Vegas and LA. If you sign up using my link, you'll be able to see what events I'm going to as well so we can meet up as well!

Your safety is my #1 concern while you are here. If you ever feel unsafe, dial 911 immediately! If you just want someone to check in with while you are here and solo traveling, reach out to me on Twitter by sending me a tweet @NikkiOnVegas. I always make sure to keep up with my mentions on Twitter. If you are interested in joining my own Las Vegas Facebook group to catch up with other travelers and keep up with what's happening in Vegas you can join me here. This is a brand new group so feel free to invite all your friends! This is where I'll start fielding options for new services like my own tour groups, club crawls, pool days, etc and you'll be the first to know!

Vegas Bound: Christmas In Vegas 2019

Christmas in Las Vegas is really SUCH a magical thing. The Las Vegas strip sprinkles a little bit of holiday magic all over EVERYTHING, and it is so beautiful! All of our usual attractions, like the Bellagio Fountain bring the Christmas cheer with holiday music playing this season. I'd LOVE for the world to start looking at Vegas during the Holiday season, so here's a couple of things to be aware of, what's going on and my recommendations. SO, Vegas is not really less busy during the Holiday Season.  So don’t expect any holiday discounts or extra space it will be the general amount of crowded...if not a bit more! Buffets and full course meal/dine-in options are going to be a little more expensive b/c they are going to be WAY more decked out than usual. It’s cold as all hell here to me right now it’s like in the 50s all week so bundle up for that. But there are SO many things happening, most things are going to be open and at its usual hours except for like our l...

Why I Meditate

I love meditation. My life has totally turned around since I started taking time to be still and turn inward instead of always focusing so hard outward. There's no pressure to meditation, you can meditate for as long or as quickly as you'd like. You have no one to be accountable to, no one to impress, nothing to do but focus on yourself and take a moment for self-care. I started meditating probably about 9 years ago (don't do that math), but I didn't start doing it regularly until the last 3 years. It gives me the time to STOP reflecting on the day, stop thinking back on things I could have done differently, stop planning for the future and just be present. I practice some different energy healing modalities such as Reiki & the Seraphim Blueprint and use crystals and anything else that vibes with me to get in the zone. When I first started, I loved using guided meditations to "clear my chakras" or just talk me through relaxation and give my ...

We just went through the craziness of the New Year and the holidays so we are kind of in a "settle down" phase and things aren't as crowded or surge priced. Here are a few things to do outside of clubbing, shows...

Nikki On Vegas: The New Launch

Welcome to the new Nikki On Vegas Blog. I've had some huge changes in my life in the past year and a half that I needed to reflect into my online presence. The New New   Get a similar sweater dress here. Size up for maternity. About a year and a half ago, I was blogging regularly, all over social media and completely content to keep blogging specifically about Vegas and helping people have their best vacations ever. Then I got pregnant! I had a super difficult pregnancy and couldn't keep up with the lifestyle I had before at all. Since having my beautiful, amazing, miracle baby I realized that I have SO MUCH MORE that I want to talk about, share, and learn. It took me WAY too long to figure out how to do that and still provide the Vegas info, reviews, tips and tricks that I love so much. But! I'm back, the Vegas is still here, I've just expanded to much much more.  All of my social media will remain @NikkiOnVegas, so kee...
